To make the necessary changes in human behavior, I keep coming up with the answer of yes. Ethically, playing god is often wrong, but to stop the environmental destruction of earth, my time travelers may need to serve as messengers of god, and possibly cross the line and kill high profile people such as kings and religious leaders. If I expand on my short story I may go with this ethically questionable idea.
